Welcome, Calico!

My cats tried Wellness Chicken for the first time today. All three ate this with enthusiasm, finished their plates, and there are so far no problems.

There is no garlic listed on the label for this one but I also have some Turkey and Salmon that still has it. I haven't fed that flavor yet.

LOL Calico, I almost threw the cans at the vet too, I would not have any part in that food.  My female Shadow had struvite crystals and I put her on the Wellness, and she is now healthy.:)

Snowshoes, that is great to hear about your Diabetic cat, I thought that the potato in the Wellness would raise the blood sugar level???
So maybe there isnt that much in it?  I dont know.

I believe Sweet Potatoes are more of the Squash family (somone correct me if wrong).  The other potato is kinda iffy.

Two Wellness Meals in a Row!!
One chicken & herring & One turkey & salmon (3oz cans)

The third meal was a bust: turkey (3oz) and after an hour they got Freeze dried (Stellas/OnlyNatural)
The fourth meal was a bust: chicken (3oz), sigh and after an hour they got Freeze dried (that's tonite) (NV FD Chicken)
I'll try again in the am.

I told them no FF (alllll gone:P
At least they're eating... and I hope it doesn't start lightening... :(

Offy,

Mine do not like the plain chicken or turkey either,  they both will eat the chicken and herring, Topaz is the only one that will be bothered with the turkey and salmon Geisha will not touch it.

Tonight I tried the Weruva have you tried any  of it yet?

Offly_irked

Weruva was & has been offered to no avail...a couple of licks of the juice, total avoidance of the rest.

My Pitas don't care what I want them to eat. And Every time I pop a can, I am appalled that Menu is the manufacturer and I feel totally battered mentally, emotionally and painfully conflicted due to the FF ingredients.

What to do, what to do?

frozen marguerita?

Bottle of Merlot..............no goblet necessary ;)

Uh-hum, back to the topic (unlike elsewhere, this area is well protected by rules & patrolled by a diligent moderator ;D).

Has anyone tried the April 24 '11 lots of Turkey, 12.5 oz cans?  I have to open the first one in a few days and am afraid of it.  (truly, for some unfounded reason, just my paranoia, and that new bright green label.)

I noted that one a while back.  It is a considerably better lot in consistency than prior (I equated it to they trying to revamp the food for entry into Petco stores).  Seems they found the turkey (or actually, supplemented it with Chicken).  My cats like it better than the plain chicken.  (The Chicken contains more chicken than turkey, and vice versa).  Both use Chicken Liver.

Cats have been eating this on rotational basis for about a month, and no problems whatsoever on the Wellness (I like that rotational thing, easy to pinpoint when a specific food causes a problem, and can eliminate - or in the instance of home/mixtures - adjust, to fit the needs of the kitty).

Okay, KV, finally found your previous post on that lot, thanks.  Glad no problems with it.

Looks like it's still pate, which doesn't work as well here since I was adding a can of water to 1.5 cans of food before.  Now I can't do that with so much water already in the can.  More water, less food in can, more product to stretch!  I suppose it's nice for normal feeding though.  A lot of cats like that pate style best.

I add water to the refrigerated food all the time (and they used to demand it in the out of the canned version also).  It was never really chunky (at least since I used it).  However, the refrigerated version actually shows the real food and how its cooked - the food actually comes out chunkier once the juices have cooled.  So need to chop up and add water for heating.

Edited to add:  I add water to a lot of pate style foods (whether refriged or not), because the kitties equate that to gravy, and its better for getting extra water in  ;D

TURKEY, 12.5 oz

Started new case, new lot.  Readily eaten by all cats.  No garlic on label.  No excessive goop so far.  Hope all the cans are like that.  (2 cases)
Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

I've been feeding the latest bright label lots of 12.5 oz Turkey & Chicken here for a few days & no problems so far (I always knock on wood when I say that).  Chicken is more pate-like but not as gloppy as the last lot of Turkey.  Turkey is less gloppy than last lot, but still pate-like.  Both are now about the same consistancey & have less of the gloppy gel on top.

No problems:
Chicken 12.5 oz -  MW10  26Feb11
Turkey 12.5 oz -  MW9  24Apr11

One interesting latest twist - the cans on both of these look almost full when opened, unlike the last few lots.  But, when I dump it in the mixing bowl, the BOTTOM of the can has a good sized air space in it.  Not sure if this intentional, but almost looks like they turn the cans upside down to cool so they look full when opened??

karvskitties

Well, mine seem to be full to the 1/8 in. top (me thinks - might have to get that ruler out   ;))
