TBOBINA,

Turkey and chicken are the ones bought the most (at least at the feed store I use).  The feed store runs out of it on a regular basis, despite always getting in extra cases.  I have to keep bugging her so that she orders extra, extra.  Sometimes I have to resort to ordering on line.  One needs to order it ahead of time to be on the safe side, I guess.  It may be just the store that isn't ordering the food or the distributor.  Mine actually switched distributors recently.  I try to keep at least 2 wks supply on hand.
Eventually they will understand,

For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Jess is a happy boycat with his Wellness cans at night ~ varying flavors, no problems! He's the only one who gets it.

We tried Wellness Turkey today. Everyone ate it right up, including Pretty Girl, who didn't finish the last Wellness variety. There are no problems so far.

The can was full and the texture was smooth and well-blended.

Just because mine seem to get sick of all the flavors at one time or another and expect 2 or 3 cans going at a time :-\  I decided to try a 3 oz can of salmon and trout and they devoured the whole can btwn the 2 of them shocker they hated FF trout.  I forgot to get the dates but I have never seen anyone mention that flavor and just wanted to say it was a hit at least this one time with my 2.  Once I go buy a few cans they will decide its gross. :P  Geisha is to the point now where she likes her food in a pile in the center of the bowl when it flattens out from eating she walks away and wants me to make it into a pile again and then she will continue to eat.  AMAZING

NUTZ - did that salmon/trout formula smell really really bad?  I tried that one several years ago, and my mother tried it last year, and every can we opened smelled like it was literally rotten, not just fishy, but very bad.  My cats, who are not picky at all, would not touch it.

They were 12.5 oz cans, so the formula may be a little different for the small cans.  I was just wondering if they had changed the formula so it didn't smell so off.

petslave,

It actually was decent I was avoiding the trout because of the horrid memories of FF and how it looked and smelled this was a nice pate and actually smelled good, I had left half the can sit on the counter while they were introduced to some of it and Jim happened to come in the kitchen while it was sitting there and say D%^n that kitty food smell good I might have to eat some????????????  LOL Then preceded to ask me just for the heck of it if it would hurt a human to eat it.  Hopefully he was just being silly.  The one that stinks to me the most is the crab sardine and something one infact my 2 seem to have lost interest in it all together going to try one more can at some point seeing how I bought 4 since I thought they liked it.  Just to see if that particular can was just off.

Hi all,
I just joined today.  I have fed Wellness canned for about 6 or so years.  I also feed several other canned types but mostly Wellness, chicken, turkey, turkey/salmon.  Never beef, not the best food for cats.  They don't like the other Wellness flavors that much and I prefer to keep the fish to a minimum anyway.  I don't know if anyoen else has wondered why Wellness has to put garlic and so many not cat good ingredients in it's canned food.  It may sound funny coming from someone who uses the food, but it is one of the better among what can never be really great.  I don't use their dry food, prefer another brand and only use it sparingly.

I called and wrote them about the garlic, but they said it's great for cats.  Which I know is wrong.  Don't need the potatoes and things like that either.

Why not use pumpkin, which I add a teaspoon of to their food everyday.

Just wondering what others think about this.

Thanks for what looks like a great forum.

Hi Calico,

Glad you found us.  Wellness started taking the garlic out of the canned feline food.  I started noticing it with the lots that expire December, 2011.  It's missing from the label and I no longer smell it.  It hasn't made any difference to my cats.  They still like it.  Glad to hear from someone who has been feeding it so long.  I wish they would remove some of the fruits and veggies, too.  Maybe like a 95% formula that some of the other brands have.  Hope you enjoy the forum.   :)

Welcome Calico, I too have been feeding mostly Wellness canned for almost a year now, and seem to have no problems, but sure would like to give more variety.  I wish to they would take the potato out of it, as this can raise their blood sugar. Hope you have fun here at Itchmo:)

Thank you for such a quick response.  I already feel welcome here.  I am so glad to hear about the garlic, I have to check my cans and see that.

I always buy, if possible, my canned in the large size since I have currently five cats.  They were all previous ferals born either in my yard or one from my friend's backyard.  I am an animal lover to the max.  Sometimes I think I prefer them to people, but of course not you guys in this forum. LOL

I take better care of them than myself, that's for sure.

I started with Wellness canned when my male developed struvite crystals and nearly died of a complete blockage.  The vet gave me a can of some Science Death, I mean Diet food and I read the label and was so upset at that point I nearly threw the can at him.  I began researching food and supplements in earnest and have learned a lot in these six years.  My sweet boy has never blocked again and is the most loving beautiful soul.  He is a small male and was very, very shy when I took him in.  He is all white except for his tail and I think he was tortured by the neighborhood kids because he stood out.

I always mix bottled water and a few other things with the food so that they get enough water, but a fountain is a great idea.

I went through a very nervous time getting him through it without any vet's help.  If I had done what the vet said I know he would never have made it without blocking over and over.  It makes me so mad that many vets just don't know how to handle the problem and end up making the cat worse or develop oxalate stones by going overboard the other way.

I am rambling and have to get going.  Just so glad to find a very nice group of animal lovers.

Bless you and your fur babies,
calico

Hi calico and Welcome!

I have been feeding Wellness canned to my gang (5) since March when one of my boys was diagnosed with diabetes. He was also very overweight at 28lbs  :o
Wellness has brought his blood glucose levels back to normal and he has lost some weight. I only feed the grain-free varieties.

I can surely understand your devotion to your animals, I feel the same way, preferring animals over people, LOL. This is a wonderful website. It's great to get so much information from others that share the same concerns.

Glad you joined. Hope to see more of your posts.  :)
