My senior cat has experienced skin allergies for several years, and from time to time we slowly change her food when she experiences an outbreak and starts licking and biting her fur.  She was doing well on Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken for about a year, except that she would go 3-4 days at a time without a poop!  Weruva is very low in fiber (.5%), and it probably binds older cats.

When she started to lick and bite off her fur again, about 4 1/2 months ago we switched her to the canned Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit formula, as others have said they had success with allergic cats.  Perhaps that was when they were still using rabbit protein from the US as they've changed the formula to rabbit from China and pork liver.   Anyway, she loved the food, and seemed to be doing well
until last week.  I ordered a new box (exp. date: Oct. 24, 2012) and as soon as we used a can from the box, she started having loose stools.  She would normally go once a day or every other day, and after eating from this particular can, she went three times in one day.

I switched her back to Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken for one day, and then fed her  the canned Nature's Variety Instinct Duck formula for three days and she didn't have one poop.  Today, we gave her the Rabbit formula again from the same batch, and she just took her third poop of the day (this one was like water).

I'll let her stomach calm down for several hours and go back to the Weruva in small amounts for a day.
I'll try the NV Instinct Duck or Lamb, but I'm afraid to give her the Rabbit again.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

My cats have eaten the chicken, lamb, and venison instinct off and on for years. Right now it's the only thing that they're on, since we're having issues with Wellness, and they are doing very well on it. I fed the rabbit once a year or so ago and they really didn't care for it. I hear that the company is pretty good about customer service when you call, have you spoken with them?

My Bucky loves Rabbit.  It was his favorite hunting sport when he was an outdoor kitty.  He hated instinct canned rabbit.

I use the lamb and the beef, alternating to keep the flavors fresh for the kitties.  My 9 yr old female, Bella, is allergic to fowl, so I can't do any chicken, duck or turkey (or quail, which caused her to loose patches of furr).  If there was something wrong with the rabbit, that would explain why Bucky wouldn't eat it.
