Ugh, this cat!  She started limping a few days ago, just mildly enough that I couldnt tell whether its a front leg or  her back or what.  Yesterday she was a little worse and was holding a paw up briefly a couple of times.  Today its not as bad as yesterday but she still has a little bit of hitch in her get-along.  Why is it when they are having problerms like this, they insist of jumping up and climbing their cat trees.  Ugh.  Ive threatened her that if she doesnt knock it off and stay down, cat twee will be put in a room downstairs with the door closed until she heals up.  The limping started after she fell off the window sill and hit the metal basket that holds the re-cycle stuff.  She was acting like a monkey and I warned her she would fall and she didnt listen. ::)

Poor baby :(  I hope she heals quickly  :-*

Poor Sophers! I hope she continues to feel better...Sending prayers and good thoughts for her little leggy/pawsie.

Cats...they do what they wanna do limping or not.

LOL Aint that the truth, Meowli!  Apparently it must not be hurting too much as she flies by and takes a leap to her kitty twee, all the while looking at me saying nanner, nanner, nanner.  And then later walks up limping and holds her paw up with that pitiful look.   :P  I know if I called the vet, they would say *keep her from running and jumping*  ::)  She's cruising to have kitty twee removed when her dad gets home.

Thanks Fizzy and Meowli for the well wishes,   :-*

Yeah, when vets say "Keep her from jumping and climbing,", it makes me wonder if they've ever had a cat! Sounds like it was just a minor wrench, and I hope she'll be back to 100% soon.

Phantom does this every once in awhile, too; although in her case it's related to the fact that she is a senior citizen of 17, but thinks she's still a kitten. ::) I hope Sophers is not going to be another Phantom as she gets older!

So did Daddy take away the cat tree  ? Reminds me of a the Tbird song   ;). It sounds like she just bruised a paw & whenever she is off it for a while it feels better . Then after jumping & climbing , it's sore again .Did you give her royal limpiness special treats to make her feel better ? I am sure you are not brave enough [or dumb enough] to try to kiss it better !

catbird, I know!  Do you think the vets realize how silly that sounds after they say it?  Keep a cat down?  Me thinks not.  Lesliek,  I hadnt thought of a bruised paw, that might be it.  We didnt take away the kitty twee.....yet.  But she still ran around jumping on the kitchen table, the coffee table, in the air, you name it...and of course started limping more afterwards.  Hopefully it will get better in another few days on its own....if she will let it.  She is one crazy cat.

ranger

This might sound crazy but are you sure she doesn't have something stuck to her paw.  I have had that happen to me and the limp turned out to be a sticky paw ::).

Sandi K

hi ranger, I have checked her paws several times and felt around her legs and she doesnt react at all and her pawsies look and feel fine.  I need to get a closer check on the claws to make sure one isnt poking her or something but we keep them trimmed back pretty well, of course, that can only be done when she's sleeping.  Trying to trim claws when she is awake is a no-go but sleeping, she just purrs and lets me do it.  She is a totally different cat when she is sleeping as compared to when she's awake.   :D  Im now sort of thinking it might be in her back above her front legs but am not positive either.

I hope Sophers is feeling better today and staying off her owie paw? Maybe she's just jumping around on the cat twee to, uh, demonstrate that she doesn't need to go to the vee.eee.tee.

If it's her back , the vet will tell you to keep her quiet and calm . Yeah ,sure that will work ! ;) Don't forget Mucinex is a mild muscle relaxant & safe for cats & dogs . I think Remy's dose was 1/2 a regular strength pill, he was 12-13 lbs . They can also take Skelaxin [ generic name is Metaxalone] I have 800 mg for me & Rem & Frag could take 1/4 .Frag was 30 lbs. I can't remember which 1 it was that worked best for Fragile, gave away the left over pills. I'll check in her thread , but never asked if it was ok for cats .
Valerian root is the natural alternative for Valium, & melatonin is a also a mild sedative but can cause diarrhea .
eta Fragile was on Robaxin , remember I did not check to see if it was ok for cats . Traumeel is however & it did help here  for me, Trooper ,fragile & Punkin .

Her limp had started looking much better, barely noticeable while walking and just a little hitch in her get-along when first running.....that is, until she took a flying 4 ft leap off her cat twee yesterday.  Cat twee is now officially getting moved this morning to a downstairs room with the door shut.  :P

Doh!  Poor sophers.  I hope her leg gets better soon.  Beau had a mild leg injury when we were playing his leaping game with the feather teaser.  After that, we only do the leaping game on the bed, where if he lands funny it doesn't hurt nearly as bad.

Ack!   :P   She's going to be looking for her tree!
