If you can't get the pills into him , you may need to reconsider the convenia shot .

BW, you have smart cats.   ;)  Pill pockets are fabulous for the unsuspecting ones, but I have yet to get Taggy to eat one without a pill no matter what I do to it, and this is a fellow who complains he is starving all the time.  Good luck with Tootsie! I am so glad to hear Sweetie Pie is doing better on the Zeniquin! She sounds like a lovely girl.

Gkit, yes indeed, I do have smart cats, and I am pretty sure they can read my mind totally.
I can decide to open food cans, without saying or doing anything, and suddenly a bunch will run in out of the sunroom and hop up onto the counter before I have even started opening the can! It is spooky really.
They can't see me, they just KNOW somehow.

Tootise is still eating well, and coming up on the counter for food, and speaks to me about wanting food.  His cheek is still down, thank goodness.
I do have the Clavamox if it swells up again before my vet gets back, and so if it does seem to swell up, I will have to just grab him, risk being bitten or scratched, and try to manhandle some med into him.
I'm hoping I don't have to do that. In my mind, I am hoping it really is not a tooth, but a fall injury which is getting better after the initial clindamycin dose.  I can dream can't I?

Now I must dela with the FLOWER problem, I mentioned in Sweetie's thread.   Am praying the Feliway helps.

I have cancelled Tootsie's appointment for the dental surgery tomorrow morning.  His swelling has been down since the dose of clindamycin that he got in the vet's office.  It was down the next day, and has been down every since, and he has been eating like a horse. I've never seen him eat this much.  He is on the counter many times a day and then eats with enthusiasm when I give him something.  He has been letting me hug and kiss him, etc. every time he's on the counter, and this is new behavior. I'm practicing so next time I may have to give him med, I will perhaps not have such a hard time getting ahold of him.

My vet is back tomorrow, and I will ask her about having her look at him.
I don't want to have him unnecessarily anesthetized and go through surgery if it was something else.  So I am seriously wondering if he really needs dental surgery, or if it was some other kind of infection or injury which the med helped him with and then his own immune system has handled since that one dose of med.

Considering the many stitches Higgs needed after that other rough and tumble which resulted in so much blood, pain, and expense, I am thinking it might be a possibility that Tootsie was plain injured too.

I hope so, we will see, and at least my own vet is back tomorrow.
Hope I'm doing the right thing.

All signs are good, BW, and I know you will watch Tootsie very closely. Eating well, being affectionate and acting normal are all good things!
Think of you and your kitties often.

Catmom5,  Well, my vet is back and she agrees with the other vet that this doesn't mean that tootsie is out of the woods.  She thinks the dental work should probably be done, and that the swelling may come back again.  I will wait a bit and see.  with the 4 sick cats, I am overwhelmed at the moment, and just feel at the point of tears a lot of the time.
Since Tootsie seems strong, and I must upset poor Sweetie to take her for an appointment tomorrow, that is enough for me right now.
The vet really wants a recheck of Sweetie, with a blood check for the infection, which we are not sure what it really was.
See Sweetie's thread.

Glad to see that Tootsie is eating well and being affectionate, both very good signs. I know it gets stressful when kitties aren't feeling well, and hope that everything will balance out.

Thank you Catwoods.  Sorry for the tardy reply, I get preoccupied with everything,  especially when I have to take someone for a vet visit.  I get discombobulated, and even more disorganized than usual.

I was getting better from my cold or whatever it is, and then yesterday I went out to chase some geese out of my yard, when I was feeding Hurt Wing Goose, I don't want so many in my yard, and I had to stand out there with only my sweater and no kerchief on my head in the wind for 5 minutes or so, and sure nuff, now my glands are all swollen up again.  This is not that new, I have always had to cover my head etc. when it gets a bit cooler, or I immediately get sick. I'm mad at myself, I know better, but it was a spur of the moment thing.  OR, I can blame the flu shot!!  :)
Have a good evening. Bless you.
