First of all, be real careful with string toys, especially with an avid chewer.  I had to stop bringing them in the house because Hannah tears them apart & eats them.  One of our buds, dingbat, had to spend several thousand dollars & almost lost his dog from a string toy.  After following that story, Hannah will never again have a string toy.

All the posts here have great ideas......another one is to put your dog on a leash when you are expecting company.  She can be by the door but have her on a short leash to keep her right there, hopefully on a sit-stay (or holding if need be).  Tell your friends not to greet her, look at her.....nothing......until she's calm & sitting on her own.......then she's ready for attention.  When a dog gets excited like that, it's best to ignore them until they calm down.  Nothing worse than to walk into somebody's house & have a big dog jump on you.  They all have a tendency to do that so it does take a little work. :P

Another trick is when she races to somebody, ready to jump, they should turn their backs to her.  The big thing is no attention, no nothing until she's calm & sitting.  They are basically seeking attention so once they realize this is not working, they'll try your way...... :D
