In the meantime in case they have eaten them, since you won;t be seeing Dr. Ueda till Thursday, I think giving them hairball gel might be a good idea. If they have eaten them, they should pass before Thursday, and in that case hairball gel will make it easier.

Hmm.  Interesting.  I do have that hairball gel I bought when I didn't know what was wrong with Mooch.  I'll try giving some to Wednesday and Tuesday before bedtime.  Thanks for the tip.

August, someone gave me a tip just recently for kittites that won't eat hairball gel off a paw or finger.  Put on the hind leg, inside the knee, where the leg folds.  Apparently it drives them nuts and they just have to clean that spot.

Let me know if it works.
::)

Oops, I just saw your post, Merrihart.

I just tried giving it on a plate and all the Tinies were really interested at first but then they were like "ewwww, what is this - petroleum?"

I had freeze-dried chicken in my drawer and I just hated taking it out since it's Mooch's favorite, but I got it and the gel and took each of the orange boys one at a time and they got their treat.  They were all but too pleased to eat the gel-smeared freeze-dried chicken.

I saw Moochie's face as I came out of the bathroom and his eyes were all round and big staring at me.   :'(  It just kills me not to be able to give him any freeze-dried chicken.  Actually, I only gave it to the 3 orange boys to make it fair, whatever the heck that means.

The orange Tinies are all thirsty now lol.

Sophie really loves hairball gel, quite fortunately considering her tendency to eat things she shouldn't. Other two are not enthusiastic, but what works is to just keep it on my finger, let them sniff it and act not interested at all whether they will try it or not. Usually they just lick it off the finger if I am patient enough to just hold it near their nose but not try to give it to them, let them take their time.

In situations like this, can you just play with Mooch with his favorite toy or something? With Stefie, there are no treats 30 min after teeth cleaning, and if Sophie goes to toilet she expects her treat, so usually if she goes during Stefie's no treats time I just give her and Mitzie the treat and give him his catnip toy and they are all happy.

August,
Well, you have  heard of baby proofing a home, putting everything away that could possibly go into a little mouths, right?  Well, that is what you need to do.  I have 17 and I cannot live a normal life allowing such little thingies around.  It is constantly on my mind. All tiny little bits of things either get thrown away or put in a drawer or closet with a door.  AND I have adult cats, remember.  They never grow out of liking tiny bits to bat around, and they do pick them up in their mouths to move them and carry them around.

it has become a habit with me to never lay anything down that has any kind of "small bit" attached to it.  Also, whenever I unwrap something in plastic, I must make sure every tiny bit of it is thrown securely away.   It is amazing how many tiny bits of "stuff" that they can swallowed pass through our homes on a daily basis.  I spend a lot of time on my knees looking for bit of things that I drop, not daring to just leave them for the vacuum to find next time.  And the little bits can always seem to shoot far from where they drop, amazing really how you can drop something and it can just disappear!! So there I am crawling around on my knees saying all sorts of bad words.

And when your vet returns, I think an xray is called for if you dont' find them in the meantime.   And in the meantime, you should probably be examining pooh.  Sorry about that.

Oh my August, Im sorry to read you are having such a time again!  I think the kittehs are just at that stage where they are getting into everything, sometimes there is no way to baby-proof everything that they could think of getting into and some just get into more stuff than others do.  Sophers was actually very good about not eating things or chewing on things except for that mousey tail. I think the wrecking-crew is just at the curious stage.  I hope everything calms down for you soon and that you find that darn metal part...maybe when you are doing laundry or something?

As for the urine spot, didnt you say you had company again?  Is that why its happening? Sending lots of hugs your way!

Mooch actually didn't make a big deal out of it, so all was soon forgotten thankfully.  I kind of didn't want to go too near him because I was afraid my hands might smell of chicken!  I think taking the Tinies into the bathroom to give them the hair gel worked well.

BW, oh, me, too, me, too -- all wrappers and bags and anything that might look like it would be a danger is put away or thrown away.  I keep my garbage can shut in my bathroom.  Thinner wires are covered, and most of the consents have covers.  This file I had is a fairly old one and I guess it was so old that it didn't even register that it had those stretchy strings as closures.  I had a scary happening with Mooch when he was a kitten with stretchy strings and removed all of them from our home -- so I can't imagine how it didn't register with that dang old file.

I'll be checking poos...

Sandi, no more company, thank goodness!  Oh, my brother stopped by for half an hour, maybe that was what you were thinking?  Since then my work partner came over for an hour and I had him sit far away from the litter boxes and all was fine.   :)

Yes, the Tinies are really going through a stage, especially Wednesday.  He loves to dig all the water out of the water bowls while I'm sleeping.  And he loves to run amok and grab a toy and then run straight up to me and put it down right in front of me so that I will praise him (and I do).  It's obvious in his facial expression and body language that he's so proud to have brought me a toy.   :-*

August,
At least the "gift" Wednesday presents to you isn't a living creature!   :D  I have heard that cats who hunt outside do this and are indeed very proud of their "gift" to their human.   ;)

JJ

Nice to know in having a pet that they are the equivalent of a 2 1/2 yr old child and you all making sure nothing is left out to tempt even those 'older ones' is great to hear.

Hoping that you do find those metal parts under something instead of in someone and in the litter box.
May your troubles be less,
Your blessings be more,
And nothing but happiness
Come through your door

gasp APOLOGIES!!

Tonight I had to go into the closet and look around and find my current apartment contract info from the top shelf... by chance that folder was the same kind of old folder with the stretchy bands and metal bars ----- it turns out that the stretchy string and metal parts is ONE piece that goes around two corners, not two pieces that go around each corner!!

So that photo of the pieces strewn on my leg is actually ONE piece that somebody chewed in two!  There are only supposed to be two metal parts!

I'm soooo sorry for all the worry.  I can't tell you how relieved I am to have found that!!

Oh, that's great, August!  Now you can stop worrying.  *hugs*

ranger

Yea one less thing to worry about.  That will probably save you a big vet bill as well. :o

And good news is well good news ;)

lesliek

That is great news ! Especially for your wallet  ;),xrays for 3 would cut into land & house money. I think I would splurge on some new folders though, minus stretchy & metal parts.

Thank you!  And yes, those folders now have no closures on them.   :)
