I need your help. I have a cat who has kidney disease. He has had it for about 1 year. He has been going down hill ever since.
I knew he wouldn't get better. But today, he threw up a large amount of very dark blood. Has this happened to any of you? He has been on special food for the whole year. He hates going in the car, he hates the vet. not like normal cats, but a real panic, hate. So, unless the vet can help at this point, i just can't put him through this.
Let me know how your cats acted  at the end?
i have written this twice, can't even write right now, sorry. i'm so upset all I can do is cry.
I will check back. i can't even say his name. I am such a mess.
please help if you can.

Trudy, I am so sorry that this is happening.  This sounds like bleeding in the stomach and may not be related to the kidney disease.  I know how it is to have cats who freak out at the vet, but this might be a case where he needs to see one.

Trudy I'm really sorry to hear this. I agree with catbird that your kitty needs to see a vet. I understand your being so upset by your kitty getting sick. I hope the vet can give you some answers and you and the kitty will both feel better.

I too agree that a vet visit asap is in order. I am sending prayers for your kitty that this is something very treatable.
I have a freak-out cat too, all he needs to do is just see a carrier,so I understand- but sometimes they just gotta do the vet trip.

I agree you need a vet visit. I never had bloody vomit at all even at the final stages. Vomiting, weakness, dehydration and even confusion but no bleeding. Are you using any pepcid or zantac ? Maybe a switch to a home cooked kidney diet would help too ?

I really should know better. look how long i worked for the vet, and also bred cats?
I did just get ahold of 1 of my vets, can't find the message now, will look. she said something that sounds like an ulcer? I'll find the word and get right back.

I found what she said. She said it might be mucosal ulcerations if his BUN is high.
God, i'm so upset. i love him so much.

No matter how much we know about a condition, we seem to forget when its our cat or dog suffering. Call the vet & ask about a stomach med & whether or not you need to go in. Try to calm down too ,he will react to your stress. I know thats easier said than done, but you need to try.

The ulcer was my first thought, too.  The vet can give you something that will help - see if you can just pick up the meds.  Some vets will do that.

Trudy, I'm so sorry to here this.  I do not have any experience in this, all I can do is offer my prayers.

Any word on how he's doing, Trudy?

Prayers coming your way, Trudy {{hugs}}  Glad you were able to get in touch with your vet.

Tanya's CRF site has some information on possible causes of vomiting blood, including mouth ulcerations, uremia, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Trudy I hope the vet wil let you go ahead and get the ulcer meds and start them, if the vet thinks they would help, of course.
