Sorry I have not gotten back to you all sooner but this has been a difficult few days and it is hard to put into words. Basically, everything we have had done indicates that Scrapper does have a tumor. Based on my latest discussions with the vet today, any additional testing we go through now would not serve to help with his treatment plan so I can't put him through the stress just to satisfy my curiosity which is all we would be doing. The plan is to keep him as comfortable as possible for however much time we are able to have. He is going on prednisone to help mitigate the effects of the tumor. At a minimum it should help boost his appetite and if it works well, it may even be possible to reduce his pheno dosage which could help improve his alertness levels. I'm not sure just how much time we will be allowed to have, but I intend to make it as pleasant and comfortable as I can for my big cuddle-bug.

I am so sad to hear this diagnosis.  You and Scrapper will be in my prayers with the hope that the time you have together will be the maximum possible.   :'(

Shadowmice, I am very sorry to hear about this diagnosis.  I'm hoping that the pred will be of benefit and give you wonderful time together, however long that turns out to be.  I hope it will be a good long time!  Many hugs and prayers.

shadowmice- I am so sorry to hear this diagnosis. I hope for lots of bonus good quality time for you and Scrapper.  My sil and bil's cat Minji has a tumor on her spine at the base of the skull, she is on prednisone and it has really helped. She was having frequent seizures and her ability to walk was poor. Now although not totally steady, she even gets up on laps and furniture. She's been on it since right before Christmas and it is keeping the tumor growth in check.I will pray for similar results for Scrapper.

It is with a heavy heart that I read about Scrapper's diagnosis. I'm so sorry that this is happening. However, I support you 100% in your decision to make his time with you the very best it can be.

Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Aww, I'm so sorry the diagnosis wasn't good, shadowmice.  I really hope the pred helps reduce tumor growth, or even shrinks it, as it often does.  It should definitely help his appetite and energy level.  Prayers to you & Scrapper boy that you have lots of good time left.
