jewel, you may have already posted this but I wnated to post it before I got distracted by hungry DH!  Has your vet suggested vit e or wild salmon oil?  Reading carolo's recent post over  at the Orijen thread made me think of that---after Harry's surgery he developed "hot spots" around his wound and my vet said to start him on vit e as it was so good for his skin---and I continued that with his radiation ---just a thought--but do check with your vet since Champ has so much going on....also did you know that Sen Ted Kennedy has a dog named Champ---and the other is Sonny---thought of our Champ when I heard that! :D

Jewel, just caught up on this post and have to say it really made my day!  Hope the healing continues!  You and Champ are really champs in my book!

Jewel if home cooking is working so well you have no need of other food and agree with everyone else - if its not broke - dont fix it.
May your troubles be less,
Your blessings be more,
And nothing but happiness

Carol,
My vet has Champ on Vit E and Fish oil caps...he's being on them for a little over 2 months...He also takes a multi vit with lots of zinc in it....

I knew Sen Ted Kennedy had two dogs, but I didn't catch their names.....Wow ...how funny...
we were watching Gomer Pile the other night and they had some shepherds that they were trainging to be military dogs(only reason I stopped to watch...lol) and Gomer's dog was named Champ.....after hanging with Gomer for a few days...he became too much of a sweetheart and the army had no use for him.....LOL

I guess there are signs all over!  :)

Champ is still improving ..although his hind legs are a little swollan.....it could be due to the fact that he doesn't want to sit still anymore....he just walks from room to room for no reason....I guess it feels good to be able to walk again..

My DH was mowing the yard yesterday and Champ kept following him around and dropping his toy beside him...so he had to keep stopping to throw the toy for him......where it normally would take him about 45 mins to mow...he was out there for close to 2 hours...mowing and throwing Champ's toy....LOL

That is so great about Champ following your DH around and wanting to play!  It is truly wonderful that Champ is feeling well enough to want to do that.  What a testimony to the care and treatment he has received!

We are just overjoyed...you would've thought we were at a comedy show if your heard us laughing yesterday.....I just pray that everyday will be even better!

Good Morning Everyone,
Well today is my B-day...and the best present that I could get was:
1)Champ barking at the front door (with toy in mouth)at 6:30 am wanting to go outside and play...

2.)No swelling in his legs at all

3)Right ear standing up completely when asked if he wants a treat

4)ALL sores drying out and flaking off

5)big bright eyes smiling at me

6)and jumping up to give me hugs everytime he sees me..

WHAT A BIRTHDAY!!!! :160:

BTW-I spoke with a lady at my vet's office who said thet her spaniel had skin like Champ's and she used a product called Dynovite...has anyone every heard of this?

This is so nice to hear.  {{hugs}}
Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Oh thank you! This is the best present ever!

All weekend he's been taking turns laying his head on our laps and just constantly giving us hand shakes...without us even asking...My daughter says she thinks he's saying thank you....

Champ went to his vet's Saturday to get his medicated bath and his vet was just shocked to see him...even when I came back to pick him up...and he heard my voice...he came barralling down the hallway and was pulling the vet! LOL
He said ,"whatever you are doing for this boy...keep doing it"

He will be going back tomorrow to have his thyroid rechecked....his vet will be even more surprised because Champ has improved since Saturday!!

This is really a miracle!
